One
Buy a $2 composition notebook from an office supply store. It's only $2! That's less than a cheeseburger.
Two
Use the 20 minute timer method. You have a cell phone with a timer. Find some time and set the timer for 20 minutes. You can write for 20 minutes. When it goes off - you're done. Come on, you can write for 20 minutes.
Three
Write about one past memory - just one. Best if you can make it a story with dialogue and action, but if you can't, you can definitely recall the event. Maybe you focus on how it made you feel or maybe you focus on your senses. Maybe it was funny.
Four
Watch a movie. Any decent movie provide you with examples of things that other people found interesting. Is there a Hallmark movie that reminds you of happy time of your youth. Maybe it's inspirational true story the reminds you of something you overcame. Films can provide an ocean of ideas.
Five
Read a book. Books are the best source for ideas. People have been writing books for 2,000 years with no sign of letting up. Library books are free. Check out your local libraries used book section. You can get great books for fifty cents! If you want help with a good book suggestion, I recommend my book "Write a Letter to Your Grandchildren and Change the World". It is available on Amazon. Fast search tip - type in "Joe Soran" it's shorted than the title.
