It's Going Happen

It's going to happen.
You're going to die.
You will probably be in a hospital surrounded by family.
What are they going to think about you then?
What are they going to think about you in a year?
What are they going to think about you in ten years?
How do you want to be remembered?
You don't want to leave a list of professional or financial accomplishments. The object is not to leave a sports car in the garage. You want to leave list of the values the guided your life and all the ways you struggled to keep those values - passing on wisdom and lessons learned.
This is what he believed in.
This is what he stood for.
This is what he devoted his life to.
This is what he taught me.
This is what I learned from him.
The example of your life - your daily actions is the best way to leave that legacy. But to make it very clear and avoid any miscommunication, write it down. Write a letter to your grandchildren.

Dead Joe, this blog reminded me of my Dad, who passed away last year on Valentine’s Day. He left a legacy like you describe here. The picture you have for this blog, that was my Dad as he passed surrounded by 30 or more of his closest family. I told my Wife Laura on the way home that night, that’s the way I want to go out, surrounded by my family and friends. My Dad passed away peacefully. I had the honor and privilege of giving his eulogy. I also gave my father-in-law’s eulogy, and I plan on giving my Mom’s and my mother-in-law’s eulogies (they’re both 83 years old). they are wonderful, godly Moms.
In Christ,
