"Storyworthy" by Matthew Dicks is a great book!
In this brilliant book, Dicks writes about a wonderful concept called "Lifetime Homework." The idea is to record the important moments of your life on a daily basis. Ask yourself "If I had to tell one story from today what would it be?" Write about meaningful memories. Moments you discover something new about yourself of the world.
He recommends using Excel as it will force you to be very brief. Just write a snippet. If, a task is brief and easy to do, then you will more likely to do it. It will become a habit.
He writes that something amazing will happen. You will develop a 'storytelling lens." That once you write about a meaningful memory you own that that moment for the rest of your life. That just a few choice words can transport you back to that moment to savor for the rest of your life. He also suggests that time will actually slow down. That developing your storytelling lens will change your sense of time.
Armed with a story a day, you will have a treasure chest of stories to write your grandchildren.
