"War is something that never should happen, but does."
Veterans have something very, very special to share with their grandchildren. It is teaching them that the freedom is not free. It cost human lives. And those that don't remember that will be condemned to repeat it with painful and unnecessary loss of precious human lives. Pass on those lessons. Save lives.
Even if you never served, you can pass on the stories of a father or a brother that served. Of a someone that didn't come back. That gave the ultimate sacrifice. Of those that did come back broken in body or soul.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
